Royal University Establishes Strategic Cooperation with Tanjungbalai City POM Center in Drug and Food Safety Education

Kisaran, December 23, 2024 – Royal University continues to expand its strategic partnership network to support the quality of education and community service. Today, Royal University officially signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Drug and Food Monitoring Center (POM) of Tanjungbalai City, while holding Socialization of Fundraising to Prevent and Combat Drug and Food Crimes.

This event was held in the Campus 2 Hall of Royal University and was attended directly by Chancellor of the Royal University, Mrs. Wan Mariatul Kifti, S.E., M.M, and Head of the Tanjungbalai City POM Center, Mr. Difa Ananda, S.Farm. This activity was also attended by various important parties including the Cooperatives, Trade and Industry Service of Asahan Regency, the Health Service of Asahan Regency, the Investment and One-Stop Licensing Service of Asahan Regency, along with students from various universities, including Universitas Royal, Asahan University, and As Syifa Health College Kisaran, which filled the room with high enthusiasm.

MoU Signing: Collaboration to Increase Food Safety Awareness

The signing of the MoU marks the beginning of a strategic collaboration between Royal University and Loka POM Tanjungbalai City. This collaboration includes educational, research, and monitoring programs aimed at raising awareness of the importance of drug and food safety among the public, especially the younger generation.

In his speech, Mrs. Wan Mariatul Kifti, S.E., M.M conveyed that this collaboration is part of Royal University's commitment to producing students who are not only academically superior, but also have social awareness. “Our students must become agents of change, who not only play a role in technological innovation but also help protect society from the dangers posed by illegal drugs and food,” he said.

Meanwhile, Mr. Difa Ananda, S.Farm. appreciates the Royal University for its initiative in strengthening the role of higher education in food safety issues. "We hope that this collaboration can provide broad benefits and increase collective awareness in fighting crime in the field of drugs and food, especially in the student environment," he said.

Socialization: Education about Drug and Food Crimes

After signing the MoU, the event continued with a socialization entitled “Raising to Prevent Drug and Food Crime”. This socialization provides in-depth information related to various modes of crime in the field of drugs and food, including counterfeit, illegal, and dangerous products circulating in the community.

In his presentation, Mr. Difa Ananda, S.Farm. explains various practical steps that students can take to detect illegal products, from understanding the characteristics of genuine products to reporting violations through official channels. "Students have an important role as a critical and innovative young generation. With the right knowledge, you can be a pioneer in building a society that is more aware of drug and food safety," he said.

The Q&A session was a moment that was awaited by the participants. The students actively asked various questions, ranging from government regulations related to supervision to the challenges faced in eradicating crime in this field. This interactive discussion showed the high interest of students in the crucial issues raised in the event.

A student from the Royal University Information Systems Study Program said that this socialization really opened up new insights. "We understand more about how the dangers of illegal drugs and food can affect public health, and most importantly, how we can play a part in preventing it," he said.

Commitment to the Future

Through this collaboration, Royal University and Loka POM Tanjungbalai City hope to expand the positive impact in various levels of society, especially in terms of security and health. Further programs, such as intensive training and joint research, are also planned to strengthen the synergy between the two institutions.
