The Faculty of Teacher Training and Education of Royal University held a webinar “The Future of Learning: Integrating Virtual Reality in Education” with Dr. Nurshamshida Md. Shamsudin from Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM), Malaysia.
Kisaran, May 21, 2025 – The Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) of Royal University successfully held an international webinar entitled “The Future of Learning: Integrating Virtual Reality in Education”, which presents speakers from Malaysia, Dr. Nurshamshida Md. Shamsudin, Senior Lecturer from the Department of Science Education, Faculty of Education, Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM), Malaysia.
This event was officially opened by Dean of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Royal University, Dr. Neni Mulyani, M.Kom, who in his speech said that this webinar is a form of the faculty's commitment to providing global insight to students. "We want FKIP students to not only understand conventional learning theories, but also be ready to face the challenges of future technology-based education, including the integration of Virtual Reality (VR)," he said.
In the main session, Dr. Nurshamshida explained the great potential of Virtual Reality technology in revolutionizing the world of education, especially in creating immersive, interactive, and contextual learning experiences. He emphasized that VR is able to bridge the limitations of space and time in learning, as well as significantly increase student engagement.
“The use of VR in the classroom is not just a technology trend, but part of a pedagogical transformation that emphasizes exploration-based learning experiences. Future teachers need to understand how VR works to optimize 21st-century learning,” he explained.
This webinar was attended by students of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Universitas Royal and was enthusiastically welcomed by participants who actively asked questions and discussed practical applications of VR in the classroom, especially in the context of primary and secondary education.
Through this activity, Royal University continues to demonstrate its role as an educational institution that is adaptive to technological developments and globalization in the world of education.
