Kisaran, December 14, 2024 – Royal University once again held academic development activities through Workshop on Preparing RPS Based on Outcome Based Education (OBE) and Practical Strategies for Finding Research Novelty. This event took place on Saturday, December 14, 2024, in Royal University Campus 2 Hall.
This workshop presents two competent speakers in their fields, namely: Prof. Dr. Syahril Efendi, S.Si., M.IT., and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Iqbal, S.Kom., M.Kom.
This activity was attended by lecturers and educators from various study programs at Royal University. This workshop aims to provide a deeper understanding of Preparation of Semester Learning Plans (RPS) based on OBE, which focuses on student learning outcomes and efforts to encourage lecturers to produce quality research with novelty significant.
In the first session, Prof. Dr. Syahril Efendi explained the basic principles and practical steps in compiling OBE-based RPS. He emphasized the importance of adjusting learning methods to industry demands and student competency needs in the global era. “Penerapan OBE tidak hanya meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran, tetapi juga memastikan bahwa lulusan memiliki keterampilan dan pengetahuan yang relevan,” he said.
Meanwhile, in the second session Assoc. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Iqbal discusses effective strategies in finding research novelty. According to him, novelty is a crucial aspect in research that distinguishes a scientific work from previous research. “Finding novelty is not just about creativity, but also requires a deep understanding of existing research gaps,” he explained.
The workshop was filled with discussion sessions and hands-on practice, where participants could develop RPS according to OBE standards and explore research ideas with direct guidance from both speakers. Participants appeared enthusiastic and actively asked questions, especially regarding the challenges in implementing the OBE method and how to determine research novelty in their respective scientific fields.
With this workshop, Royal University hopes to continue to improve the quality of learning and research in the academic environment, in line with its vision to become a university that... quality culture and global vision.
